Have you ever done one of those interactive questions slides?

I've certainly done quite a few, especially at work for things like certification and general opinion polls. They have all been separate implementation that didn't make use of what already available, and in some cases were expensive looking cloud services.

I was really happy when a customer asked if this could be done in Confluence, as it clearly was a really good idea and would give me a reason to dive into this.

I installed a trial version of Quizzes for Confluence that sounded very promising and I must admit it ticked all boxes (disclaimer: this is purely my objective view as an Atlassian Expert based on my evaluation - I've not even been in contact with the plugin vendor).

The plugin provides a blueprint that allows you to create a page with a set of macros for configuration and statistics. Adding a new question is just a matter of clicking the Create Question button.

Each question is in its own child-page and implemented as a macro, so you are free to edit and format it in any way possible in Confluence.

You then invite people to take the quiz. They will receive a personal invitation via email that allows them to take the quiz by following the link. The questions will be presented one-by-one with a progress bar and the typical look-and-feel of the typical questionnaire slide show.

You can configure how many questions will be presented, how many of them that needs to be answered correctly, maximum time to complete the quiz and loads of other aspects.

The main quiz page that was created by the plugin blueprint will allow you to monitor the progress of the quiz. The default macros provides information about things like individual question success rate and response time.

It also gives details about how individual users are doing, with information such as time spent, score, success rate and, of course, whether they have passed or not.

Everything is implemented using macros, so you can present the result (even the live results) in a wide variety of ways.

There is much more to this particular plugin, but it enables you to create quite professional looking surveys, quizzes questionnaires and indeed certifications by using Confluence and a plugin rather that looking into a bespoke development or a cloud based alternative.

The fact that there is a way to create fairly advanced quizzes and tests using Confluence provides an excellent alternative to the expensive and complex solutions to test and query user groups in your organisation.
