Over the weekend, TechTime has funded the planting of 450 native trees through the 3rd year of our collaboration with Trees That Count. We're proud to be supporting a local charity that produces widespread benefits for communities and the environment.

Trees That Count - Project CrimsonWe have pledged 1% of our profits to Trees That Count, to mitigate our carbon footprint. Trees That Count is a conservation charity run by Project Crimson that plant native trees all around New Zealand. After launching in 2016, they have successfully planted 40,201,500 trees. This cause has significant relevance to us as a tech company, due to the industry's effects on the environment and aligns with our Team's values. We believe our environment should be a top priority. There is no 'Planet B'!

We have been funding tree planting in the Wellington region since 2020! Have a look at our progress here.

Here, we've mapped the places where plantings have been funded so far with the "Map from a list of addresses" feature in our Embed Google Maps Pro for Confluence app.

TechTimes contributions have gone towards trees in these local areas:

Our 1% Pledge

We value our environment and want to ensure our business reflects this and contributes positively to Aotearoa.

We believe that quick action is required to combat the effects of climate change. The tech industry plays a role in this large-scale issue, from mass consumption of energy to production and disposal of hardware and parts. Within our industry large and small corporations can reduce their harm to our planet. Confronting climate change starts with small changes and contributions from businesses and individuals – and that is what we hope to achieve through our pledge under Pledge 1%, a global movement that encourages and empowers companies of any size to donate 1% of their profit, time, product, or equity to their chosen cause. This movement reminds us that all companies are able to give, and any contribution can change the world through economic, social, and environmental impacts.

We've been a member since 2017, and encourage you to join the movement and pledge your own 1%. Learn more here!
