Unless you're living under a rock, you know that the Atlassian Summit 2020 is slated to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from 31st March 2020 to 2nd April 2020! It is one of the biggest events of the year for Atlassanians, Partners, Vendors, and Product users. It witnesses people from all over the world under one roof for the 3-day event where you learn, network and party - because that's important too!

TechTime has been sponsors of the event for the past 6  years and takes pride in attending each year. In 2020, we are again sponsoring Atlassian Summit under our Be Lazy. The Machine Does It Better brand presenting our apps EasySSO (the enterprise Single-Sign-On), UserManagement (automatic management for inactive users) and EasyTime (Automatic time tracking).

This year the onus of managing the event came to me as the new Marketing Specialist for TechTime and boy-oh-boy was I nervous.  I bombarded my colleagues with questions, looked over the Jira tickets for the past events, read-through documentation on Confluence and Summit board on Trello, asked for help on the Atlassian Community and researched the internet for tips.

However, a part of me was hoping to find a high-level list I could use - I couldn't find any. And like everyone says 'need is the mother of invention' I decided to create a list:

Flights and Visa

If your citizen of a country that belongs to the US Visa Waiver Program, you might not need a visa. However, make sure that you have looked through the US immigration website before making a decision. It's best to book your flights quickly because of the increase in price closer to the date. Also, spring break for students is around the same time which could mean that flights might run full.

Plan your to-do at Summit

The high-level schedule is out and you can choose which events you want to attend and certifications you want to do during your time there. Registering for these sessions beforehand can ensure your attendance and your schedule is in place even before you get there.

Create a Trello Board

Here is a Trello Board  you can use as inspiration for your planning. It certainly helps to have a visual representation of your plan to see how your time before and after the Summit would look.

I'm using Confluence, Trello, and Jira for planning the event, and it has been incredible. We will be able to duplicate all the tasks for Summit 2021 - yes we already have that at the back of our mind.

I hope the information above helped you in planning and we look forward to seeing each one of you at Atlassian Summit 2020. Till then, like we always say...
