Answer: 

EasyTime can align the starting times of work logs to a time grid composed of the time slots equal in duration to the minimal unit of time configured.

For example, with the default setting of 15 minutes and aligning enabled, this will result in work logs starting at 9:00 AM, 9:15 AM, 9:30 AM, and 9:45 AM if no silent merges occur for the sequential work logs created for the same type of event on the same issue.

The alternative, without aligning, when conflict resolution comes into play may result in a more fine-grained timesheet, e.g. a 5-minute view issue work log starting at 9:00 AM and a 15-minute comment on issue work log starting at 9:05 AM.
