Alternative to Group Policies - Local Browser Settings

To add your trusted sites to your local browser for less permanent access, follow this FAQ: EasySSO Browser Settings

To Create a new Group Policy Object

  1. Click Start → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Group Policy Management
  2. Expand Forest: <domain> → Domains → <domain>
  3. Right-click Group Policy Objects and click 'New', give it an appropriate name, click 'OK'
  4. Right-click your newly created GPO, click 'Edit'
  5. Expand User Configuration → Policies → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Internet Explorer → Internet Control Panel
  6. Click Security Page
  7. Right-click 'Site to Zone Assignment List' and click 'Edit'
  8. Select 'Enabled' and click 'Show' in the options pane
  9. Click 'Add', enter the site to trust (e.g. http://myurl.com) and give it a value of 1
  10. Click 'OK', then 'Apply' and 'OK' and close the Group Policy Management Editor window
  11. In the Group Policy Management window, click your new GPO, and navigate to the 'Delegation' tab
  12. Click 'Add' at the bottom, enter your user/group, click 'Check Names', then 'OK'
  13. Change the dropdown under Permissions to 'Edit settings, delete, modify security', and click 'OK'
  14. In the Group Policy Management window, right-click your domain in the Domains folder, and click 'Link an Existing GPO'
  15. Select your created GPO, and then click 'OK'

To Edit an Existing Group Policy Object (i.e. add your IP to the Local Intranet Zone)

  1. Click Start → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Group Policy Management
  2. Expand Forest: <domain> → Domains → <domain> → Group Policy Objects
  3. Right-click the policy you wish to change and click Edit
  4. Expand User Configuration → Policies → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Internet Explorer → Internet Control Panel
  5. Click Security Page
  6. Right-click 'Site to Zone Assignment List' and click 'Edit'
  7. Click 'Show' in the options pane
  8. Click 'Add', enter the site to trust (e.g. http://myurl.com), and give it a value of 1
  9. Click 'OK', then 'Apply' and 'OK'.
