What is it?

When two events of different priorities occur on the same issue or two different issues, EasyTime performs conflict resolution if these events overlap in time.

If the start and end times completely match, the work log corresponding to the lower priority event will be deleted and replaced with the one corresponding to the higher priority one. For example, consider a user viewing an issue first, triggering a 'View Issue' event, then, in the same time period, leaving a comment on the issue, triggering a 'Comment on Issue' event. If EasyTime is configured to prioritise the comment event - this will result in a single work log corresponding to the comment event.

If the higher priority event occurs on another issue – the same logic will leave only one work log in the user's timesheet on that other issue.

If the work log corresponding to the lower priority event on one issue has been extended previously, so the new higher priority event work log on another issue overlaps with the lower priority event one only partially – the lower priority event work log will be reduced in length to make way for the higher priority event work log.

If a lower priority event creates a work log that would overlap fully or partially with a pre-existing higher priority event work log – the lower priority event will be ignored, and no work log will be created.

If a partial overlap occurs between work logs on the same issue, EasyTime will merge work logs based on the configured merge options for Higher Priority events and Lower Priority events.

Step 1: EasyTime automatically logs your work from 12:15 until 12:45 on EAS-18.

Step 2: You manually create a work log that overlaps - from 12:30 until 13:00 on another issue.

Step 3: EasyTime sorts out the details, preventing clashing work logs for you by reducing the length of the first work log. This means there's no overlapping, and you're left with two separate work logs.

How to configure?

The conflict resolution cannot be disabled, and the only configuration available is through the priority of events.
